A big exciting day today as we headed off for round 2 of American Idol auditions in SLC. We had to be there at 7:00 a.m. So Ben, Hannah, Tyler and I were up at 5:00 and ready to go. We stood in line, for probably 2 hours and finally got inside after they let the contestants go in separate from their families. They put them in one room, and all the families in 2 other holding rooms. They would go through 2 auditions today. One vocal audition and then if they made it through that, an interview. We waited and waited and the anticipation was killer! Ben walked down the hall to meet Ty after he came out and sadly he didn't make it through the next round. They told him they loved his voice and performance, but felt he was too young. They said they really wanted to see him next year. I didn't see anyone else there that young, and actually have never seen anyone get through at 16, sooooo. The three judges had really nice things to say and really liked him, so we will see if he wants to try again next time. It was a fun day together with the family anyway. We are proud of you son! To make it from 8,000 to 200 or so was a great compliment to him.
